Price list - Typical Meat Box at Groubear Farm

Meat produced at Groubear Farm is all traditionally reared animals, allowed to grow slowly and naturally on unfertilised pastures.  The beef is from Dexter or Beef Shorthorn cattle slowly matures and hung properly in our own cold rooms for at least 3 weeks.  The lamb is from our flock of Greyface Dartmoor sheep that grow typically 12 - 18 months before slaughter, compared with often less than 16 weeks for commercial lamb.  The traditional animals mature slowly and time must be allowed to let the animals grow and enjoy life on the farm, as a result the flavour texture of the meat is superior.

Meat...

All livestock on Groubear are grass fed during the summer months and are fed on our own locally made fodder in the winter.  Although not organically registered, we treat our animals in accordance with most of the Soil Association requirements, and being a small suckler herd all the animals get individual attention.

Recent research on grass fed cattle indicates that the meat from a grazing animal has a higher omega 3 content which is beneficial to our health.
